The only notable downside of master key systems is the risk assumed if a high-level key is lost or if a disgruntled employee refuses to return his/her key. Some vendors may charge a setup fee, but following setup keys and cores will be the same price as those on a standard system. It is important to note that master systems typically do not cost any more than a standard system. The manager and shift supervisor keys would still work. In the example above, if a regular employee lost their key, you would only need to rekey the merchandise cases and distribute new keys for the sub-master level. The only time you would need to rekey the entire store is if the master key was lost. Master key systems also allow for simple rekeys, and a reduced need to perform them. Moreover, their flexibility allows you to add stores or additional openings to the system at any time. The biggest benefit of master systems is the ability to have controlled access to certain openings with one key (no more jumbled key rings). What Are The Benefits to Master Key Systems? Master key systems are very flexible and can be set up however you need. It’s important to note that the example outlined above is just one way a master system can be set up. Most key system vendors (including us) don’t recommend cutting these keys due to the extreme security risk. Typically, these keys are owned by an officer of the company and are kept under tight lock and key. If (and that’s a big if) you wanted a key to open all of your stores, you could cut a great grand master key. The highest level of a master system is the Great Grand Master. With a Grand Master system, you can convert the jumbled key ring into a single Grand Master key that will access each door in all stores assigned to his region. Your District Manager currently carries a jumbled key ring with keys to each store in his assigned district. The master key would go to the manager, one sub-master would go to the shift leads, and the other sub-master would go to other employees. This setup would require a master key system with two sub-masters under it. You want the location manager to have access to all of the doors, your shift lead to have access to the front door, receiving door, and merchandise case, and your other employees to only have access to the merchandise case. Assume your store has four main locks: the front door, receiving door, office door, and merchandise case. The most basic setup is a Master and Sub-Master system. To understand what these levels are, take a look at the summarized example on the right. There will always be a master and sub-master level, but depending on how you want the system set up you may/may not have a grand or great grand master. There are a number of ways that you can set up a master key system, along with four possible levels: This means, if you only want managers to have access to the cash office, it’s easy to accommodate. Master key systems allow different levels of access to each lock. However, a master key system comes with a host of other features that can benefit your facility as well. This way, your DM and/or after-hours vendors only have to keep track of one master key that will give them access to your facilities. The short answer to this question is a master key system this system will enable you to have one key that can operate multiple locks. What’s the easiest way to simplify our key system that will reduce the number of keys to manage? Our District Managers and after-hours vendors are having a hard time keeping track of keys to all of the locations they’re responsible for. On the next line (centered), add “by.” On the line after that, add your name or pseudonym as you want it to appear on the work. Halfway down the page and centered, place your title in all caps. With the ease of modern word processors, there is no reason not to include the precise word count instead of an estimate. Place your word count on the top right.Place your legal name and contact information on the top left of the page.Consider the following layout for your page (all double spaced): X Research source X Research source At very least, your title page needs to have your full name (legal name and pseudonym, if used), the full title of the work, your contact information, and a word count (actual or close estimate). While some editors advise using a combined title page / first text page, especially if submitting a short story, creating a separate title page is probably the safe option. This format is easily readable by anyone with a computer and will preserve your formatting exactly. If you're submitting electronically, save your manuscript as a PDF unless specifically told otherwise. This is considered more readable by most. Unless told otherwise, left align your text, leaving a jagged right edge (don’t “justify” the text). Some recommend using hyphens or spaces, but slashes are typical as such: Smith / My Manuscript / 23. Commonly this is placed on the right margin. Every page of text should have a header with your last name, the manuscript title (or just key words from it), and the page number. You can go a bit bigger if desired, but there is no reason to have giant margins and a small text area in the center. One-inch (2.54 cm, or just 3 cm) margins all around is the typical standard. Create margins that allow the editor room to scribble notes on the pages. There is some disagreement on the best traditional font, but Times New Roman, Courier, and possibly Arial are the best bets. No big letters, no cramped pages to save trees / shipping costs, no Comic Sans font. Make the manuscript readable by choosing a traditional, 12-point font and double-spacing everything.Don’t staple the paper, and pack it neatly and securely for shipping. Also use a good-quality, 20-pound bond white paper if making a hard copy submission. No funky, unique, or "pretty" colors of any kind.
This helps us keep focused on Scripture but introduce those topics with gentle guidance, setting up a framework to evaluate other resources together later. Bible Road Trip is an amazing Bible curriculum and there are plenty of opportunities in it to discuss violence, false gods, and other cultures just through the Bible stories. I’d have to read it instead or listen ahead, and that wasn’t going to work for me in that season of life.īible Road Trip is not only our Bible curriculum but it ended up being our history for that year once we dropped Story of the World. There is also just enough violence in some of the stories that I just can’t casually listen to the audiobook with them. This isn’t the case in SOTW, and until we had more time establishing that concept with my children through biblical resources, we needed something that spoke to this in a more direct way. The purpose of the discussion is always to highlight God’s authority and glory. When we do talk to our kids about false gods and idols, we make it clear that they are, indeed, false. At that stage in our children’s lives, we felt it was unwise to muddy the waters between the true God and false gods, using a curriculum that spends so much time on the latter. (I don’t believe it is even marketed as Christian.) Major pieces of God’s story are left out. The curriculum is not Christian, contrary to what some might assume or suggest. The One True God seems to be just another story among many gods. The biggest problem we had at the time is the constant focus on false idols and gods without calling them out as such. Let me explain some of these points a bit more. We learned through this experience that we strongly prefer a biblical worldview for the subject of history. A generally secular rather than biblical worldview.Reported inaccuracies (just worth noting, but in truth, every history curriculum will have some things that need corrected). When listening on audio with little kids it’s hard to anticipate to pause or skip ahead, but you could get around that by editing on the fly as a read aloud. The Lord and the Scripture have very little authority – the Bible is treated like just one more story.Too much focus on false gods and idols without calling them out as such.Moms I like and respect use it to teach their kids. Many others use it, so there are vast amounts of resources and tips available online.I appreciate that it teaches through storytelling. It’s available at the library! That doesn’t happen often with curriculum audios. My kids love the engaging story and asked to listen to it.There are many things we really liked about the curriculum: Let me brace myself to dodge some rotten tomatoes and I’ll tell you about what brought us to this decision. However, in my limited searching at the time I found nothing but glowing praise for The Story of the World for young kids! So my hope here is to present some pros and cons for your consideration. I’m sure we’re not the only ones who have made this call with a curriculum. We quickly realized it wouldn’t work for us and made the decision to ditch it. So we checked out Volume 1 of Story of the World, both book and audio, and tried it out. My husband and I originally wanted to look into Mystery of History, but at the time (our oldest was 6) some other more experienced moms advised that it might be better to wait a few years because it was a bit more rigorous than we probably needed right away. The Story of the World is a very popular history curriculum in Christian homeschool circles and co-ops. It just didn’t fit our needs at the time and we found other resources that better match our goals and values.) I don’t think Story of the World is a “bad” curriculum. I have updated the post to reflect what we’ve used instead, and you can also find our current curriculum picks here. (Note: When I originally wrote this post, my oldest was 6 at the time. That’s part of the beauty of homeschooling! ❤️ If you’re on the fence about whether to use Story of the World, my hope is that sharing our thought processes here will help you one way or the other! Bottom line: do what works best for your family. What works for one family doesn’t work for everyone! For us, one of those times was when we tried out Story of the World and ended up ditching it for a different approach. If you’ve been homeschooling for any length of time, you’ve come across a situation where you thought a curriculum would be a big win and quickly realized it wouldn’t work for you. Sometimes so often in some missions that it's a test of patience and seeing if you can manage the amount of trash-tier meatshield spam you need and doing the actual objective. The release date will no longer be January 26th 2021. They just sit there as you wittle away at them and nonsensically spam armies that spawn in at the sides of the map at you. It was revealed during E3 2019 and was originally planned to be released on September 29, 2020, but was delayed to January 26, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Of which the singleplayer missions are also rife with literally non-functional AI that just gets waves of units spawned in at the map edge and cant even be bothered to maintain an economy or repair their crumbling destroyed castle. Stronghold: Warlords is a real-time strategy game by Firefly Studios. It looks like we dont have any release dates for this title yet. The new "Warlord" thing is also a gimmick and largely an inconsequential nothing outside of handicapping player resources or otherwise locking the Win-Trigger in singleplayer behind controlling all of the Warlords. It is the fourth member of the mainline Stronghold Series. It also runs shockingly poorly for something that looks like it was unironically made in 2006. Stronghold Warlords (SHW) is the latest installment of the Stronghold main series, released on March 9, 2021. I suppose you can say it's playable unlike some previous Stronghold games that seemingly never left the Alpha Phase of development, I guess? But at the same time it seems prone to crashing without even giving an error popup. As part of Steam strategy event TactiCon, we have just released a surprise free update for Stronghold: WarlordsPlay for keeps in a new 12 mission skirmish trail campaign and additional multiplayer maps. I can't even think of something it does well now that I'm trying to. it's just THAT sort of Thoroughly mediocre or just bad in all aspects. Thoroughly mediocre or just bad in all aspects. Of note, in our latest update here we are sticking to a list of comedies and dramas, so no docuseries, sketch comedy, or talk shows-although HBO has great lineups for these as well, no surprise! But some of the dark, complex dramas are also some of the best TV shows of all-time (or at the very least, of the last decade). From Enlightened’s search for bliss to Veep’s devilish satire, HBO’s best series (along with some key miniseries) are not all dark, complex dramas. But dig deeper into the titles listed here, and it’s the range of artistic expression that becomes apparent. Many of the top shows in our list of the best HBO series of all time echo much the same sentiment: It’s no coincidence that their most common points of comparison, at least among critics, have been cinema and literature rather than the “prestige” programming of an earlier age. It’s HBO.” The premium cable network’s famed slogan, from an era predating “Peak TV,” projected an air of authority, of class, that defied the medium’s reputation as a lowbrow form. I think that’s just you wanted to see yourself represented on TV.“It’s not TV. “Or a trans girl being in a queer relationship - I don’t really think I have ever seen that imagery on TV either. “It felt important for me and felt exciting, as far as that imagery on the TV screen, whether it’s a young trans girl who’s not tucked and has her bulge out and seeing that on TV and what that could do,” she says. That said, she does point out certain acting choices she made to bring a level of authenticity to Jules. “Because when I think of an activist I think of a community organizer who’s doing that every day of their lives and working with the community, and for this job I have been inserted in a very cisgender, very white, very straight world that is Hollywood, and I don’t know how much that does for the community. “I think the term activism has been sort of watered down,” she says. In 2016, Schafer was a plaintiff in the ACLU lawsuit against her home state of North Carolina’s House Bill 2 regarding bathrooms - but she doesn’t see her role in “Euphoria” as a kind of activism. “And there was also the thing of young people who are watching the show can look up to Jules and want to be like her and that’s a really scary thing, but just getting messages from other trans people or people relating to her shooting her estrogen before she goes out for a night with a man - people found that relatable, which is good.” “There is always the thing of ‘am I going to properly represent my community in this role?’” she says. Jules is a young transgender woman who has recently moved to town with a complex past and a desire to fit in she and Zendaya’s Rue immediately become friends, and navigate their respective chaos together. While Zendaya is the big name on the project - and billed as the frontrunner - audiences have quickly identified Schafer as the reason to keep coming back each week (the season’s fifth episode premieres on Sunday). She was gearing up to study fashion design at Central Saint Martins in London when her agents at Elite called to say HBO was interested in her for the role of Jules in “Euphoria,” which stars Zendaya alongside a who’s-who of rising Hollywood stars, from Sydney Sweeney and Maude Apatow to Alexa Demie and Algee Smith. “My plan was to model and pay the rent and then intern with designers and work on the other side of the industry however I could,” she recalls, “but then it just got to be too much, especially with casting, fashion week and also working for a fashion designer.” See Also: ‘Stranger Things’ Star Maya Hawke Is Done Resisting the Family Business She also interned with Vaquera before modeling took over full-time.
